Since its creation in 2009, the Institute Faire Faces, a research center dedicated to disfigurment – has been supported by the national scientific institutions and local authorities: a 10.5 milllion euros grant from Agence nationale de la Recherche was used to acquire cutting-edge equipment; Europe and Hauts de France Region have committed to finance the construction of a building dedicated to the Institute’s mission.
The 3750 square meter building will open its doors at the beginning of 2022: it will bring together under one roof the technological and human resources necessary to accelerate collaborations between the multidisciplinary teams.
Research : unique research center in Europe on reconstructive and regenerative facial surgery, the Institute brings together cutting-edge equipment, surgeons and researchers in the fields of tissue engineering, robotics, imaging technologies, biomaterials as well as human sciences.
Training and education : 8 table experimental surgery on live tissue or anatomical pieces, 150 seats theatre connected to the University Hospital operating rooms, multiple meeting and conference rooms.
Information : Open architecture and exhibition galleries to organize various events, including to raise awareness about facial handicap;
In addition to moving into a brand new building, the Association Institut Faire Faces is in the process of changing its legal status to become a Fondation of Coopération Scientifique, founded by the following members: Région des Hauts de France, CHU Amiens Picarde, Amiens métropole, Université Picardie Jules Verne, CEA, UTC, Brothier, Association française des chirurgiens de la face, la Société Française de Stomatologie, Chirurgie Maxillo-Faciale Chirurgie Orale.
