History of the Institute
Located in Picardy, near the battlefields of the Great War, the Faire Faces Institute, created in 2009 following the first face transplant performed in 2005 by Professor Devauchelle, is dedicated to the development of a unique project: the creation of the first Study and Research Center dedicated to disfigurement.
The Institute focuses on 3 priority areas: research, training and teaching. Since 2009, it has been developing its research and information activities under the authority of Professors Bernard Devauchelle and Sylvie Testelin, in association with numerous teams from the Amiens Picardy University Hospital, the University of Picardy Jules Verne, the Technological University of Compiègne, the CEA, the Catholic University of Louvain, as well as the European Association of Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgery and many other partners around the world.
In 2022, a new building, dedicated to the Institute’s mission, opened its doors on the Amiens Picardie University Hospital complex: it offers, within an original architectural structure, research and teaching premises concentrating a multidisciplinary group.
